Charity Works Green House
McLean, Va., October 6, 2009 — CharityWorks GreenHouse, the first Carbon Neutral Designer Show House on the East Coast, will open its doors to the public October 10 – 30. The CharityWorks GreenHouse features the eco-friendly creations of 19 acclaimed interior designers including internationally recognized designer Barry Dixon. The GreenHouse, constructed by WEST*GROUP in collaboration with GreenSpur, Inc., was designed by the Washington, D.C. rchitectural firm of Cunningham Quill.
Our dear friend Barry Dixon, commissioned us to create a divider screen to separate the kitchen and the dinning/living space. At 11′ tall, the screen was large in size but not in visual weight. It was a wonderful way to separate the space.
As with everything produced by Avrett, all the excess material was recycled. We also purchased carbon credits to off set the shipping, as well as, using finishing materials with NO VOC’s. We took the Green aspect of this project seriously. Good design does not have to compromise the world in which we live.
